In Term 2 of 2025, Reality Bytes Media partnered with the City of Mitcham to deliver an exciting new round of Headset Heroes — our flagship VR workshop program designed to introduce young people to the world of immersive technology.

Over the course of nine weeks, students dove into the fundamentals of virtual reality, 3D modelling, and interactive world-building. Using beginner-friendly tools and hands-on learning, participants not only experienced VR but also learned how to create their own. From sustainability-themed virtual spaces to creative game environments, each session sparked curiosity, collaboration, and a strong sense of digital capability.
What made this program special was the ongoing collaboration with the Mitcham Council team. Together, we ensured the workshops were tailored to suit the group’s learning style, interests, and timeframes — while still retaining the flexible structure that Headset Heroes is known for. Each session balanced structured learning with creativity, and students had the chance to explore topics such as design thinking, the future of immersive tech, and how virtual reality can be used for good.
By the end of the program, participants had developed their own mini VR projects and gained valuable skills in critical thinking, collaboration, and digital literacy. More importantly, they left with a sense of excitement about the possibilities of immersive media.
We’re incredibly proud of the work these young creators produced and grateful to the City of Mitcham for their support in making it happen. Programs like these prove that when given the tools and the opportunity, young people can do amazing things with technology.
Stay tuned — we’ll be sharing more Headset Heroes journeys soon!
